This thesis will focusing on millennials, and I am arguing that millennials (gen x and gen y) do not know how to handle hardship. They (we) are the first generation to not have a memory of any hardships. We have had a “easy” life, and so has our parents. When these generations now are facing crisis of all sorts, they’re unable to move forward and instead feel small and move the responsibility of change onto someone else. My discursive set of instructions this week was therefore a comment on all the negative information that society is being fed, and our inability to handle it.

This is Sophie the Giraffe.
The famous giraffe ‘Sophie’, in natural rubber (phthalate-free), who has been part of babies’ lives for over 50 years. She is made for Newborn+s and is slender, flexible, and soft, baby can squeeze and chew her in complete safety. It is lovable and amusing, she laughs when her body is squeezed. It is 17 cm tall and supplied in standard capsule packaging.
I would be interested in time lifespan of product as a goal. One functional unit could be how many minutes of attention it gets per squeak and degradation of aesthetics from chews.
I had a wonderful summer. I went sailing, hung out, traveled, said goodbye to my grandmother, said hello to teeny tiny babies of friends and strolled around cities with multitudes of friends and families. I sailed a lot. Every summer when I return I instinctively feel that I should just become a professional sailor. That would be amazing. But then, when I get back to my “normal” life I remember how much I like this too. Immediately going back to spending 12 hours in school needs a bit of getting used too.
I had the kind of summer that I will compare future summers with, and it was sad to see it end.
But now its back to work!
For ICFF my class was invited into Wanted Design to make a mobile installation. We’ve chosen to make the installation about what design is and how we view it. We are letting the objects that will be presented within the space tell their stories in a more facetted way. I will keep the details secret until our big night. But here are some process shots!
