Design for Sustainability and Resilience – Rooftop Farm Visit

Last week we went to Rooftop Farms for our Designing for Sustainability and Resilience. The organization has two farms, one in New Jersey, and one in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The farm spans 1,5 acres and certified organic. The produce is sold at Green Markets all around the New York Area, as well as to local restaurants. It was interesting to hear of the struggles that the company has gone through to gain the governmental support its most recently now received. It was encouraging to learn that governments are starting to take care of the small companies that strive to develop New York Citys food manufacturing and transportation systems.
