In our making class we were asked to create a plush night light. I chose to create a product that hides is light. Someone told me once that darkness is the absence of light, and I wanted to create a light armature that embodied this thought. A lightsource that robs the user of the light its emitting. Therefore I created this modular plush LED light source that shines as if it was night – ergo, not at all.
My process started by sewing the moduls out of a dense black fabric.
I combined the moduls and hung them up.
I soldered 11 LED lights in parallel.
Discovered that they worked on my first try.
I then mounted the LED string into the moduls.
